Routes & Load Plans
Two things should be settled before a truck leaves the yard: the itinerary the vehicle and driver will run, and whether everything assigned to that vehicle actually fits. Logistall gives you a tool for each — Routes for planning the itinerary, and Load Plans for checking capacity — so overweight or badly planned dispatches get caught on screen, not at the loading dock. This page covers both.
Plan the itinerary a vehicle and driver will run
Section titled “Plan the itinerary a vehicle and driver will run”The Routes page lists your multi-stop dispatch plans. Each route has an auto-generated route number, a status (planned → active → completed, or delayed/cancelled), an assigned vehicle and driver, planned start and end times, a total distance in kilometers, an optimization score, and notes.
The table’s Itinerary column shows each route’s origin and destination place names with an arrow between them, plus a count of any additional waypoints beyond those two, and the origin/destination street addresses underneath. This itinerary is a read-only summary built from the route’s stops — the ordered list of places (with sequence, address, and planned/actual arrival times) that make up the route.
Find the route you need
Section titled “Find the route you need”You can filter routes by status, origin city, destination city, assigned vehicle, assigned driver, and whether a route is assigned to a vehicle at all — that last filter is a quick way to surface planned routes still waiting for a truck. Make sure the load fits before you dispatch
Section titled “Make sure the load fits before you dispatch”A load plan answers one question: does everything assigned to a vehicle for a route actually fit? The Load Plans page lists them with the linked route number, the linked vehicle’s plate, a status (draft → confirmed → executed), the combined weight of everything assigned, a utilization percentage, and which packing algorithm produced the current arrangement (manual or greedy).
To build a load plan:
- Create or edit a load plan and pick the route and vehicle it belongs to.
- Set its status — start at draft while you’re still assigning.
- From the checklist of your shipments, check each shipment that should ride on this vehicle. Each one you check contributes its weight to the plan’s total.
- Save and check the utilization percentage against the colour coding below.
Utilization is colour-coded so problems stand out: green at 80% or below, amber above 80%, and red above 95%.
Let Logistall pack heaviest-first: the Optimize button
Section titled “Let Logistall pack heaviest-first: the Optimize button”Scenario: you’ve checked nine shipments onto a box truck and utilization has gone amber. Before shuffling shipments by hand, let the server take a pass.
Each load plan row that isn’t yet executed shows an Optimize button. Selecting it runs a greedy heaviest-first packing pass on the server: the plan’s assigned shipments are reordered by weight, heaviest first, and Logistall recomputes the total weight and the utilization percentage against the vehicle’s payload capacity, then marks the plan’s algorithm as greedy.
Optimize doesn’t remove anything from the plan — it only reorders and recalculates. If the combined weight would exceed the vehicle’s payload capacity, utilization is capped at 100% in the display rather than shown as a number over 100%.
